Scarborough high school locked down after slashing: “

Canwest News Service

A Scarborough high school is under lockdown after a knife attack, police said.

At 11:17 a.m., Toronto police responded to a call of a student ‘being slashed across the head’ at Wexford Collegiate Institute, Const. Tony Vella said.

The student’s injuries are non-life-threatening, and police are looking for a suspect in and around the east-end school, said Vella.

Vella said a gun may have been involved as well, as the suspect made gun-like gestures with his hands during the attack.

Wexford is an arts school with an emphasis on visual and performing arts courses. It has 1,139 registered students from Grades 9-12.’
